The WSA Europe Digital Impact Community (WSA Europe) responds to the urgent need to strengthen Union values including respect for the rule of law in the realm of digital innovation. ICNM’s pan European network is evaluating and promoting best practice in the use of digital applications and is identifying solutions that create a strong positive impact on society.
Utilizing awards as a mechanism for innovative social impact, WSA Europe advances a dynamic multi-stakeholder network (CSOs, SMEs, Public Agencies, Universities, R&D Agencies etc.) that connects all 27 EU member states. WSA identifies digital impact solutions that encourage and enable citizen engagement and supports social entrepreneurs, university graduates, smart biz angels, innovative SMEs and responsive policy makers.
Negative developments in social media disinformation and hate speech, alongside the monopolistic behavior of US platform companies and the non-compliance of global scalers, erode the legitimacy of the European Union and of democracy. Considering this, there is an urgency to showcase the positive impact and uses of digital media in reducing social inequities, closing digital divides, promoting gender equality and strengthening European values. By recognizing innovative approaches that align with and promote EU values, WSA Europe addresses the unique needs of diverse communities, fosters resilience and encourages active participation in the shared vision of a more inclusive and engaged Europe.
An innovative variety of events and creative formats offer opportunities for online collaboration, in-person knowledge exchange & networking, and dynamic learning experiences. These tailored engagements cater to the specific needs of the target groups and enable participants to connect, share expertise, and collectively work around European values. Through these efforts, WSA Europe nurtures a culture of active citizenship, innovation, and collective responsibility, helping shape Europe’s future as a united, participatory, and thriving society.
